Manga database creation and analysis
This project involves mangas which I grew up reading and watching adaptations of. By webscraping the net I will look for data on mangas, their rating, their adaptation, their volume sales... All this data can be useful to study some questions from the simplest such as which genre is the best rated, how are manwhas (korean mangas) growing, what are the trends (are new mangas shorter?) to more complex questions such as the impact of a good rated episode on the manga sales,... All those questions can be useful for a manga editor and help it make decisions between adapting the manga as a film or an anime, or understand which themes attracts more people... In this case I am working for myself to understand the sector more or to share it with others. I first designed the database but I may encounter new data when looking for it so it is still subject to change
We first start with the Manga table and we will use myanimelist.com to gather our data, we will webscrap every manga (more than 56.000), but at this step I don't know yet if I will gather volume sales and adaptation information of all these mangas. Maybe I will choose a threshold and work with the top 5000 most famous.
